Caring for a child with cancer is a full-time responsibility that can be emotionally and physically exhausting for families. At the Courageous Kids Cancer Foundation, we understand that caregivers also need moments of rest and renewal. That’s why our Respite Care program was created — to provide families with the chance to pause, recharge, and breathe while knowing their child is in safe and supportive hands.

Why Respite Care Matters

When a child is undergoing treatment, the focus naturally shifts to their medical needs. However, the well-being of parents and caregivers is just as important. Constant hospital visits, sleepless nights, and the stress of uncertainty can take a heavy toll. Respite care offers families a break from these overwhelming demands, allowing them to restore energy, maintain balance, and be better equipped to support their child.

How We Help

Our program connects families with trusted caregivers who provide short-term, quality care for children. Whether it’s a few hours to run errands, rest, or spend time with other family members, our goal is to ease the daily burden. By offering this much-needed support, we ensure families feel cared for, not just the child in treatment.

The Impact

Respite care does more than give caregivers a break — it brings peace of mind, reduces stress, and strengthens the entire family unit. Parents return to their child renewed and emotionally stronger, and children benefit from seeing their loved ones better able to cope. Every hour of respite contributes to a healthier, more hopeful family journey.
